Summer sunscreen skin-care

My first post ever! How exciting! 🙂 But, even more, exciting is what I’m about to share with you, regarding my summer skincare.

We all know how healing but also damaging, sun rays can be. If we don’t protect our biggest organ, our skin, we’re putting ourselves at risk, from premature aging and sunspots to the worst of them all – skin cancer.

With this being said, and since we have a few more weeks of summer, here are my current sunscreen product reviews! 🙂

1. Korres sunscreen face & body emulsion yogurt SPF 20

Packaging

The 150 ml of product comes in a white plastic spray bottle, nothing fancy. The atomizer sprayer on the bottle is great, producing a very fine spray helping you apply the lotion evenly onto the skin.

About the product/ingredients

This product by Korres is meant to be great for people with a fair complexion and sensitive skin. It’s dermatologically tested non-comedogenic, water, and sweat-resistant. Perfect for the beach and any water activities. Protects you from UVA & UVB rays, also with organic yogurt as one of its main ingredients ( as we all know, very well-known for its soothing and anti-aging properties ).

This is the COSDNA ingredients list scan.

Note: This way you can see if the product has any ingredients to which you’re allergic.

When it comes to this product, the formula is also unique. ( I haven’t found any other product with the same ingredients list ) . The product is made in Greece.

Application and impressions

Quite light consistency, with a mild fruity & sweet scent. This sunscreen gets quickly absorbed into the skin, leaving it soft and silky. Leaves no white cast. The skin also doesn’t feel greasy or sticky at all.  This lotion is meant to be used on the face as well. I actually did try it on in the late afternoons, when the Sun wasn’t as strong. I’ve got combination to oily skin in the summer that gets prone to breakouts, and this sunscreen didn’t break me out.

Do I recommend it?

Like with some other products by this brand that I’ve tried in the past, I wasn’t disappointed at all. I bought it in Greece at one of their local pharmacies on sale for 17 €. The full price online is 29€ which is a bit pricey, so as a little splurge or if you find a good deal like me, definitely try it out!.

2. Eau Thermale Avène Very high protection emulsion SPF 50+

Packaging

This sunscreen comes in a sturdy orange plastic tube with a treatment pump. You get 50 ml of product. No issues with this pump, gives you just the right amount of product (pea size).

About the product/ingredients

Targeted at normal to combination skin. Protects against UVA & UVB rays. It’s water-resistant and non-comedogenic. This is a paraben-free formula. Again we have the ingredients list scan.

As you can see, the ingredients list is the same as for some other sunscreen products by Avene). The product is made in France.

Application and impressions

One thing that surprised me about this sunscreen is its thick consistency. I usually buy emulsions, because I really don’t like the heaviness and thickness of regular face sunscreens with such a high SPF. With this one, I thought to myself – O.k…if this is an emulsion…then, how thick is the regular version? O.o You really have to rub it in, otherwise, you will be left with a white cast, looking like Casper…

Do I recommend it?

I much prefer La Roche Posay, Roc or Uriage face sunscreens that I’ve tried in the past, then this one. It works well, great for sensitive skin didn’t break me out, so you can give it a try. It’s just too heavy for me. Bought it in Belgrade for 15€ at my local pharmacy and I won’t be repurchasing it again.

3. Apivita Lip Care with Cocoa Butter, beeswax, and olive oil SPF 20

Packaging

A lot of people forget that your lips can get sunburned as well. It happened to me once and I hope, never again. The Apivita lip balm comes in a plain plastic lipstick bullet ( Packaging issue – cheap plastic, flimsy opening, could be better for the price & brand ). Depending on the lip balm type, the bullet is in a different color.

About the product/ingredients

This is a product with at least 87% natural ingredients (some of them organic). The formula is paraben, silicone, mineral oil, and propylene glycol free.

With an SPF of 20, it’s perfect to use on a daily basis, not just in the summer. To nourish and moisturize, the lip balm is packed with ingredients like shea and cocoa butter, olive oil, vitamin A, avocado oil, different waxes ranging from beeswax to candelilla wax. Again, the ingredients list scan :

This product has a unique formula ( didn’t find a product with matching ingredients list). The product is made in Greece.

Application and impressions

This is the classic, clear balm, that leaves your lips mat, so it can be used by women and men. There are of course other types with different fruit extracts and vitamins, that have a slight tint. It has no taste ( I hate lip balms that taste awful when you lick your lips) and has a mild sweet smell. Super nourishing, without leaving your lips feeling sticky or greasy.

Do I recommend it?

This is my third one! That’s how much I love it. Just a good quality lip balm. Bought it in Greece, the price was 4.80 € but you can also get it online.

That’s it for my first post, thanks for reading!

Hope you have an amazing weekend!

  1. Nope, I didn’t even know I get it, it doesn’t notify me. I accidently just went into the settings section now, and I found several comments including yours as possible spam, so.. 🙁 I’m currently trying to figure it all out! 😀
