Bioten Skin Moisture Scrub cream Review

Hello everybody! šŸ™‚

In this blog post, Iā€™ll be talking about a drugstore exfoliantĀ that was raved about in the past few years, especially in the Serbian beauty community ā€“ The Bioten ā€œSkin Moisture, Scrub Cream (Honey and apricot kernel)ā€.

When it comes to the brand itself, Bioten (Elmiplan cosmetics) was a well-known natural skincare brand from Romania, founded in the early 90s. Later on, the company was sold to ā€œSarantis Groupā€ from Athens, changing into a greek brand. They emphasize that they use only the finest natural ingredients, perfectly combined to give us good quality skincare products at affordable prices.

Products are dermatologically tested, tested ā€ in vitroā€ and ā€œin vivoā€ (not on animals, but human volunteers ). All products are made in the EU.

Packaging

A sturdy plastic tube in a gradient orange color, with a flip-top. The lid to my surprise didnā€™t break from all the opening and closing, which often happens with such packaging ( I hate flip-tops -_- ). You get 150 ml of product, pretty standard when it comes to this type of exfoliant.

Ā About the product/ ingredients

This is a mechanical exfoliant (unlike chemical exfoliants). The product is paraben, paraffin, and colorant-free, with 100% natural ingredients. The scrub is targeted at people with normal to combination skin.

Here is the COSDNA ingredients list scan :

Note:Ā  This way you can see if the product has any ingredients to which youā€™re allergic.

Now, as you can see, it does contain alcohol, but most of them are the good type of alcohol to see in your products, so donā€™t be afraid. These donā€™t tend to damage or irritate the skin ā€“ e. g, causing dryness or breaking out. Iā€™ve added the definition of Mel above the list.

Application / impressions

The product is meant to be used once or twice a week, applied by massaging the cream onto damp skin, later rinsing it off with lukewarm water. Itā€™s a white creamy consistency, with little apricot seed (kernel) particles inside (these little guys do all the scrubbing).

It has a nice sweet honey scent thatā€™s really refreshing, but maybe too strong for people who are sensitive to perfumes.

This is a mechanical exfoliant where you can actually feel the little apricot particles rubbing against your skinā€™s surface helping you get rid of dead skin cells. Some people will find it a bit harsh, but I like my mechanical exfoliant a little rough.

After you wash your face, it feels like you have a slight residue film on top of your skin ( but the skin doesnā€™t feel oily). It feels supple, smooth, and hydrated, ready for your next skincare step. It didnā€™t make my skin feel dry and tight, which is also very important ( something I look for in both cleansers and exfoliants) and Iā€™ve used it for several weeks now, so thatā€™s great.

Do I recommend it?

Look, when it comes to your weekly skin care, mechanical exfoliants are not a step in your skin care where you really need to spend a lot of money ( this is my personal opinion ). Iā€™ve used mechanical exfoliants ranging from Nivea and Neutrogena to Vichy and Lierac (Btw, this product actually reminds me of the Vichy PuretĆ© Thermal exfoliant with its similar creamy texture and feel on the skin). I never saw a huge difference between them ( some of them used to dry out my skin, drugstore & HE ). My advice to you is to invest in good cleansers, chemical exfoliants ( these are another story, that Iā€™ll write about very soon), toners, serums, creamsā€¦

With this product youā€™re good. It does what itā€™s supposed to, doesnā€™t dry out the skin and itā€™s also budget-friendly ( Retail price is just around 3ā‚¬ ).

So, my answer to you is ā€“ Yes. Most definitely try it out, you wonā€™t be disappointed. šŸ™‚

Thatā€™s it! I hope you liked my review!

Have a great week! šŸ™‚
