Getting back into writing, well — It’s a pain in the ass, my friends. To continue with this blog, and to keep my not-so-easy-to-focus brain interested in it, I’ve decided to make some changes. First of all, for the life of me — I can’t solely write beauty reviews. It’s just…Well…
Now, this doesn’t mean I’ll stop writing product reviews — I just need to zhoosh things up a bit. Give this website some life! So, the first thing I’ll do will be to add some new post formats. As you know, so far there was only my “Nascence of a Brand”- post format, which is focused on the birth & development of brands. These posts require some research and planning, and I do enjoy writing them. Now, since I’m a person who likes to learn new things, loves research and history (yeah, people’s favorite) I’ve come up with some new article ideas.
SkinCare Collectanea – This format was inspired by the ever so growing “skincare craze”, lack of transparency and actual references, with my personal favorite “dermatologists don’t know jack, trust me – I’m an Insta/YouTube/TikTok/Whatever skincare expert” (with no actual training or experience in treating skin). As an amateur myself, I’ve read so much bullshit online, that it freaks the hell out of me. People post such ridiculous information, as frequently as flushing a toilet. I myself was a sucker for pure crap a few times…
Anyway, this will be my “back to basics”-format, where I’ll be breaking down the plethora of skincare ingredients. Vitamins, acids, oils, alcohols, you name it. In an old-school manner, every article will be based on books & research studies. Everything I’ve managed to collect as a non-professional. This way you’ll be able to look up those references yourself and do your own reading/research if interested in further detail.
References aren’t so easy to find online, especially as most Bloggers/YouTubers have the tendency to avoid adding them. It’s the “I know things you don’t, that I’m happy to share with you”- Way of engaging and building an audience within a niche. Most influencers aren’t actually dermatologists, cosmetic chemists, estheticians, in general — People working in the beauty industry, with adequate credentials, acquired knowledge, and experience. Furthermore, you’ll rarely see them share advice or recommendations on how to, or where to educate yourself — Besides their channel or website. So, I want to add more options. Hey, an extra paper, a book or two, can’t hurt. Right?
This will be my most challenging article kind, but I’m up for it.
There are 2 more post formats, but, I’ll talk about them some other time. They are quite different from this one, and I don’t want to make this post too long. Gonna go now, To finish up some drafts I never posted, due to my perfectionistic tendencies… Another thing I need to change — So help me God.
That’s all for now! Until my next post, enjoy your weekend guys & I’ll see you soon! 😉
